The Mindset of Plenty

Jul 17, 2024

Aren’t getting what you (really) want? Maybe it’s all in your mind.

Now before you get annoyed with me, I’ll explain a little more about the plenty/abundance/success framework within the deeper and mostly automatic subconscious mind.

The subconscious is the visual/imaginative mind, so it imagines our thoughts and desires. However, when we highlight the aspects we do NOT want, the mind has some challenges. Have you ever tried to NOT think of something and found you can’t stop thinking of it? Try not to think of a butterfly, and it will usually flash quickly to mind.

So, it’s really important to curate your “wishes” (which is how we can see repetitive thoughts) to focus on what you DO want.

I know it’s hard when you’re carrying unwanted weight, in a challenging relationship (where it’s SO easy to remember the other person’s faults), a cluttered room, or a dwindling bank account. You’re surrounded by what you don’t want, right now!
But running away from what you don’t want may never get you any closer to what you really do want.

This is where it takes some creativity (or support) to craft a new focus on which to set your sights. A strong and active body, a loving and understanding relationship, a space to breathe and create, an expanding wealth…

Yet it’s more than that, because if we don’t take the next steps, we’ll just hear (and follow) the voice that says, “that’s not me, that’ll never happen”.

The trifecta of imagining, feeling and action are the ingredients to the secret sauce of plenty.

Imagining the “final” goal can be helpful. But even imagining small achievements can build your abundance muscles. And the little successes reinforce themselves. Which starts to make mini-successes a daily happening.

When imagining, it’s also important to feel. When we add emotions to our imagining, we super-charge them. Interestingly, when we build in time for daily imagining with an emphasis on feelings, sometimes our rigid ideas of how a dream should turn out might shift and adapt. Maybe weight becomes secondary to flexibility/balance, or our definition of “wealth” may shift somewhat. The subconscious is the creative and creating mind – let it use its power!

Once again, they don’t have to be monumental steps. Imagine a ladder – closely spaced rungs will still help you to raise yourself to great heights (rather than struggling with gigantic spaces that you may never be able to reach).

You are the most major character of your own life. Participating, rather than being a spectator, in your life tends to reveal the bounty that surrounds us. What we focus on, tends to show up in our reality. When we start in the most helpful direction (for us), it’s easier to keep going that way.

When we imagine fully and take our first steps towards it, we can start to share it. Not only are habits more likely to succeed when there is accountability or sharing, in showing our vulnerability during times of transition, others can see that change IS possible. I love the idea of the lit candle that can help in lighting others. That’s how I see people who start the change process. A guiding beacon for others.

Subconsciously, there’s another bonus for sharing our change. Light attracts light, and like attracts like. When we give – our gifts, our changing positive situation – the act gives the mind the suggestion that we have prosperity to spare and acts accordingly, enhancing and increasing it in our own lives even more.

And it feels so good. To change and to share.

[Usually I don’t “advertise” during my newsletter; however, I’d love you to know about the “Introduction to Tired, Mired, Wired, Ired (no more) class coming up on the 23rd of July, 2024, 7-8:30pm CDT. If you’ve been wanting to shift out of exhaustion, overwhelm, franticness, or annoyance, this will help get you on the path (even if you can’t attend on the day, you’ll get access to the recording!) EXTRA alert: it’s only $34, all of which is going to my local North Texas Food Bank – you can help feed over 100 meals with that, so it’s getting you on the path to sharing your plenty. So good,
Jennifer

Stats and Thoughts

The International Journal of Person Centered Medicine published that altruism and volunteering can significantly boost the subjective happiness and physical health, as well as lower the perceived levels of stress of those involved in these sharing activities. So maybe it IS good to do good.
